"I have a television so I know what a family is supposed to look like but mine is nothing like that. To begin with, both my parents are dead. Not the kind of dead where you bury them in the ground, say some nice words, cry a lot and then never see them again. Nope, when they died they refused to ‘go into the light’ or whatever it is you’re supposed to do when you die. Instead, they came back home. As ghosts. Have you ever been sent to your room by a parent who has no corporeal form? I have and it sucks..."
Xandra Illuminata Smith has lived for the last three years with ghosts as parents but her life gets even stranger after her seventeenth birthday when she finds out that her mother is actually a Witch in hiding and her biological father, whom she knew nothing about, is a Fairy and King of the Fae realm.
Xandra is the first Witch Fairy to be born in thousands of years for very good reason. No one should be able to control that much magic and Xandra was never meant to be born at all but her mother has manged to keep her hidden away until now.
The Witches want her dead and the Fairies want her blood, for only her blood will reopen the gateway to the Fae realm and allow them back into this realm to take revenge on humans and Witches alike for having banished them hundreds of years ago.
Xandra has very little time to learn how to use her powerful Witch and Fairy magic that has been bound since her birth while running from the Fairies who managed to jump realms and want to take her blood to set the others free. She needs someone to teach her and her parents enlist the help of one powerful Fairy who claims to want to keep the realms closed to each other. He will help keep her safe and alive as she learns, at least that's what he says...
Review:
You know the fairy tales where girl meets boy, he saves her, they fall in love and live happily ever after? This is not one of those, but it is a story of fairies. And in this fairy tale the girl can hold her own. Don't be disappointed though there is romance and danger every step of the way!
I love books about other realms and supernatural kingdoms, and this book does not disappoint! Amazon had recommended this book to me, and boy did I fall in LOVE with this series! True of Blood had me laughing out loud the entire way! There was tension between the main characters right away, and even then Xandra found Kallen sexy...who wouldn't!!! She has never been around a guy her own age before and I love how she doesn't take crap from anyone. She is very intelligent, funny, stubborn, and brave, which I think makes for a good heroine. She is also very sarcastic, which I loved it made the story that much more enjoyable. Especially the witty banter throughout the book by these two main characters. Through the book you can see the characters grow through the challenges they faced. Bonnie Lamer did a great job!! I would definitely recommend this series.

Unearth-Jenna Bernel
Aria Darwin has always considered herself cursed. She is obsessed with finding a cure for the bad boyfriend plague. Worse yet, she’s in denial about her weird abilities and terrified of her mysterious stalker who causes the earth to quake violently with the snap of his finger.
With her two best friends, Aria enters her first semester of college armed with a “no more men” pact in an effort to demagnetize the sleaze balls. Unfortunately, the agreement proves difficult when she meets Liam, a charming foreign exchange student, on the first day of school.
Aria quickly discovers that Liam is not only Mr. Perfect, but he also somehow ignites her supernatural side. Upon the invitation of her dream guy, Aria travels to Ireland through the study abroad program, dragging her friends along with her. But her world of euphoric bliss quickly comes crashing down as she uncovers the truth about her past, revealing who she really is and what she was born to do.
Review:
If a hotttt Irish guy asked you to come to Ireland to study abroad would you? That's exactly what Aria and her two best friends did! The story started out a little slow, then picked up a few chapters in. I must admit I kept wanting to hear about her dark haired stalker, and was mentally yelling at her for being so trusting. I really got into the book around the end. I love it!! Good Job Jenna Bernel!! Good thing the second book is already out! ;)

Forgive My Fins-Tera Lynn Childs
Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but for Lily Sanderson, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.
Lily has a secret, and it’s not her huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid—she’s a Thalassinian princess. When she discovered three years ago that her mother was actually a human, Lily finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been going to Seaview High ever since. Living on land has its problems—like her obnoxious biker-boy neighbor, Quince Fletcher—but it has that one major perk: Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type—when they bond, it’s for life.
When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily ever after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.
Review:
As soon as i seen the cover for this book I knew I had to have it! It is absolutely gorgeous! Because sadly I do judge a book by its cover. I was hooked by the first sentence, each character was unique and had their own personality. The main character Lily was so fierce, kind, relatable, she has so much love and dedication to her friends, family, kingdom, and people. She is also true to her heart. This story is a little different than your typical mermaid books. She's a mermaid when the book begins, a mermaid princess that is! There were so many extras in this book, it was like waking up on christmas morning! Tera Lynn Childs creates a magical world. Her writing style is easy to read. You don't get punched in the face with the history of the book in the beginning, it's gradually given to you throughout the story. There is not one negative thing I can say about this book. Five stars for Forgive My Fins!!!
